Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen KaushalyaYojana (DDU-GKY) program is a flagship program of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) which aims to skill rural youth through training, who are poor and provide them with regular jobs having regular monthly wages at or above the minimum wages. Residential training is provided to youths while training under DDU-GKY. In Mizoram DDU-GKY is implemented by Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Misson (MzSRLM).

Features of DDU-GKY:

1. DDU-GKY target group are rural youths of the age group 18 – 35.

2. Preference will be given to family belonging to BPL, member of SHG, SAGY Village, PoP etc.

3. DDU-GKY is placement linked training. Guaranteed Placement for  at least 70% trained candidates.  

                  DDU-GKY, Mizoram has a proper Standard Operating Procedure and Guidelines laid out by MoRD in the implementation of its project as well as Notification which is updated from time to time. The provision of Skills Development training is different from other Skills Development training undertaken by other Departments in Mizoram. Monitoring and evaluation will be conducted for candidates even after placement under DDU-GKY to ensure quality placements and the minimum wage for placement valued as per Cost to Company (CTC) is Rs. 6,000, Rs. 8,000, Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 15,000 for 3,6,8 and 12 months course duration respectively; as a result placement within the State of Mizoram is difficult as the prospective employer were not able to provide the expected wage as per DDU-GKY, hence its is expected that placement will be outside of Mizoram State. Unlike DDU-GKY, for other training provider specific Operating Procedures and specific wages were not set for the Project implementing Agency (PIA).
