Social Inclusion and Social Development (SI/SD)

Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MzSRLM) promotes all round development for the Self-Help Group members. Though economic services to the poor are crucial and prioritized at the initial stage, social development of the poor is also inevitable to have reach real and sustained development. For this, interventions under Social Inclusion and Social Development are being taken up.

FNHW

MzSRLM work towards social develop of SHG members through FNHW (Food, Health, Nutrition and WASH) intervention. FNHW interventions aims at accessibility and availability of Nutritious food, better health care system for children, lactating mother, adolescent etc, better Sanitation and hygienic practices, availability of safe and clean water by creating awareness and practices among SHG Members.

The intervention was started into four RD Blocks from 2019 onwards and plan was to universalized all blocks under these interventions during FY 2023-24.

PRI-CBO Convergence – PRI-CBO convergence project is carried out in 2 district namely Serchhip and Mamit. MzSRLM is working together with National Research Organization (NRO), Kudumbashree of Kerala. The main objective of PRI-CBO convergence is to teach the CBOs and the Village councils how to work together for the betterment and overall development of their village. Also, importance is given to Village Poverty Reduction Plan (VPRP) which is a sub component of Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) is where CBOs in the form of VO/SHG plan for the development of their village and is to be incorporated into the final GPDP after approval at the Gram Sabhas.

Gender Intervention: As NRLM believes that gender sensitization and social action should be mainstreamed in its framework, systems, institutions and processes to achieve sustainable social, economic and political development. Mizoram SRLM thus mobilizes poor women in general and also undertakes special mobilization efforts for reaching women in exploitative situations/ occupations (Single women, divorced, separated, survivors of violence, trafficked women, HIV+ve women etc.) in particular.

Social Inclusion: As saturation of the normal SHG is almost completed, NRLM feels the need to include Elderly, PWDs and Minorities into SHG fold and thus Mizoram SRLM has undertaken steps for the inclusion of Elderly, PWD and Minorities into the SHG fold so as to promote sustainable Livelihoods for all sections of society.
