Ms. Lalmuanpuii hailing from a small village Saipum, Bilkhawthlir RD Block under Kolasib District, Mizoram was a mere jhum cultivator before she became a SHG member under Mizoram SRLM in 2017. However, her life completely changed when she became an active member under the SHG fold, she was first selected as a Financial Inclusion cadre in 2017 and then trained as an BC agent in 2018 and started functioning as a BC Agent in their village from 2018 till date.
As hailing from a remote village, the nearest bank from their village is 40 kms away which makes it very difficult for the villagers to go to the bank and avail of banking services.
Ms. Lalmuanpuii started her Customer Service Point (CSP) in their village by borrowing Rs. 40,000 from the Community Investment Fund (CIF). In the first month as a BC Agent, she earned Rs. 2500 as a commission. Today, she is making 450-550 transactions earning Rs.15000-20,000 per month.
Today, she is undertaking many banking transactions such as distributing MGNREGS wages, PM KISAN installments, other Central Government schemes transactions, deposit, withdrawal, passbook update, fund transfer, loan repayment, etc. Ms. Lalmuanpuii, as a BC Agent is also spreading banking awareness in her village.
Today, Ms.Lalmuanpuii is the main breadwinner of her family and is taking care of her family with the commissions she receives from the transactions.
