Brief overview: Mrs. C. Lalhmachhuani, a class IX dropout, mother of two was a jhum cultivator with her husband earning approximately Rs. 50,000 per annum. In 2014, she became a SHG member under Mizoram SRLM in 2014 was selected as a Financial Inclusion cadre in 2017 and BC Sakhi in 2018.
Detailed information: Soon after functioning as a BC Agent in Leng village, Mrs. C. lalhmachhuani knowing the non-awareness of the villagers regarding banking services and its importance, she held many awareness campaigns on Banking, its importance and various insurance and Central Govt schemes.
As the nearest bank is 17 kms away, Mrs. C. Lalhmachhuani’s CSP has been very important for leng village as she distributes MGNREGS wages, PMJBY & PMSBY, deposit, withdrawal, passbook updates and insurance such as PMSS etc.
With the commission she earns from the transaction she and her family stopped their jhum cultivation and she concentrated full time on her CSP, functioning 5 days a week. She took a bank loan from which she bought Pick up Yodha 4x4 Motor. The vehicle is operated by her husband and is plying good from their village to other villages and towns nearby.
As of today, Mrs. Lalhmachhuani has not faced any difficulties regarding her CSP as even in times of the pandemic she is able to function. Compared to her family earning Rs. 50,000 per annum, todays she is earning Rs.6000 to Rs. 15,000 from the commission and in addition to her husband’s income from the vehicle, the family is doing very well.
